FALL NOTES |
| |
The gardening season is pretty well over, and the gorgeous Fall colors are fading fast, but we can still enjoy some time outside raking leaves, tucking in those bulbs for spring, and cutting back perennials. New trees and shrubs can also be planted up until the time that the ground freezes. We are open until Thanksgiving to provide mulch, burlap, tree wrap, plant labels, Wilt-Stop, etc. and answer your questions about preparing and protecting your landscape for Winter. |

FALL PROJECTS |
| |
With "Old Man Winter" approaching there is yet one more important task to be done - make sure those newer acquisitions are labelled. Even though you think you know the names of your plants and exactly where they are located, come Spring you may find that your memories of last season's garden have faded quite a bit. I often bury the plastic label that comes with the plant in the planting hole, always at the 12 o'clock or North position so I know where to find it. They seem to remain readable for many years when buried. Making a simple map can also be very helpful. Then I find Winter a great time to make up permanent labels if I don't have time in the Fall.
Have you fertilized your lawn yet?
Knowledgeable gardeners recognize the benefit of late fall fertilization of lawns - the nutrients fortify the root system instead of "just making more grass to mow.' If your lawn isn't looking as good as the lawn next door, come see us for the best recommendations for turf improvement.
